The best campaign counter-attack video I HAVE EVER SEEN. Obama 2012

”So we’re going to call their BS when we see it and we need your help to call them on it too and set the record straight. So share this, tweet it, facebook it, I keep hearing about tumblr and whatever that is…please use that too. Thank you.”

-Stephanie Cutter / Deputy Campaign Manager at Obama for America.

And a Tumblr shout-out.

Reblogging because it’s a circle.

Party Lines

I feel like the extreme right gives such a bad name to the Republicans. There are plenty of moderate Republicans who have slightly differing views on how things should be run in the country.

People get so stuck on the bigots and jerks that call college students sluts or make homophobic remarks. You can argue that some of the Republican nominees have questionable speeches but let’s be honest: elections with an incumbent hardly ever produce quality challengers. They are hardly a representation of the Republican party at its finest. (I doubt they’d have so many supporters if that were true…) So much attention is placed on them that much of the moderate, less out there Republican base is ignored.

And it works the opposite way too. Conservatives constantly target very liberal groups with more radical agendas. They throw words like socialism and women supremist around. They talk about how the liberals are going to pull the world into a sexual sinning frenzy and just want the government to hand out everything. (I don’t think the majority of women were planning to sign up for girls gone wild because they have birth control…)

Everyone just stop. Seriously, stop. The majority of the voting base in the United States falls around the middle of the spectrum. Yes there are people from both radical sides but they’re kind of like that drunk uncle at a party. Ignore them and they will go away. Eh heh, party. Get it?

I’m a Democrat but I see eye to eye with many Republicans. Can we stop paying attention to the crazies and setting up rival camps?

Democrats, Republicans, Greens, Libertarians, etc:

We’re all American in the end.

Obama vs. Romney on tax rates: As you can see, rates are largely the same—except for the nation’s richest and poorest. The poor would pay almost twice as much in taxes under Romney’s plan; meanwhile, the very richest in the country would be forced to cough up about 10% more of their income under Obama. The net effect? In short, Romney’s plan would reduce federal revenues to about 17% of GDP—down .9% from where they are now. Obama’s budget would raise revenues 19.2%, with most of that money coming from those making over $250,000 a year (Graphic and data courtesy of The Washington Post / Tax Policy Center).
